Glenfarclas 25year 43%
Category: Speyside Whisky
Alcohol by Volume: 43%
Amber with dark gold highlights, full-bodied and ripe, finely peated with aromas of orange marmalade, honey, coffee, sherry and nuts. Intense, long-lasting finish, dry, smoky and malty.
Michael Jackson notes:
More of everything. Perhaps a touch woody for purists, but a remorselessly serious after-dinner malt for others. Colour Dark amber. Nose Pungent, sappy. Body Big, with some dryness of texture. Palate The flavours are so tightly interlocked at first that the whisky appears reluctant to give up its secrets. Very slow, insistent flavour development. All the components gradually emerge, but in a drier mood. Finish Long, oaky, sappy. Extra points out of respect of idiosyncratic age.
The house style for the Glenfarclas distillery is: Big, malty, oaky, sherryish. After dinner.
